It is my intention to shed light on pharmaceutical drugs, without being too literal with the focus. I would like to leave room for viewers to be able to personally interpret the installation in which they can best relate.

Currently in western medicine, it seems as though there is a surge in prescribing prescription drugs to patients to alleviate the simplest of issues.

Prescriptions drugs are easily accessible and sometimes the most convincing option at attempting to solve our issues. For instance, as human beings we all have the ability to relate to anxiety and what the experience is like. We feel it while crossing a busy street, when your heart palpitates and your palms sweat. Or speaking in public, when you feel that knot in your stomach, and your throat feels like it’s closing. Of course the most prevalent of times is when we lay awake at night, wondering about the what ifs, and checking off the boxes that have become our lives. One does not require medication because they are uncomfortable feeling these emotions. However, there is treatment if we feel our anxieties are just too painful to bear, and as a result, we need to seek the help of a medical professional. In life, we all experience problems and it is a natural occurrence to have issues, at times dealing with what may feel like unbearable emotions. There is a lot to be said about the issues with mental illness and there are a lot of stigmas associated with being diagnosed with a mental disorder.

“Now, what did say your problem was?” hopes to bring those issues to focus and open discussion amongst its viewers, without judgement, while throwing those exact same anxieties out the window.
